Witchery Sleeveless Shirt Dress, ASOS Metal Top Keyhole Round Sunglasses, Tony Bianco 'Alexa' Boots, Alexander Wang 'Rafael' Top Handle Bag

Well, it's officially Autumn here, and I am trying to look upon the imminent cooler temperatures
as a good opportunity to invest in some key trans-seasonal pieces. This Witchery Sleeveless
Shirt Dress was purchased with this objective in mind, and has already proved itself as fitting
keenly into such a category, as well as my wardrobe staple pile. The slim boxy cut, silk fabric, high
collar and graduated midi hemline all work to keep this dress sleek and flattering, and incredibly
easy to wear. The fact that all it needs once it gets cooler is a chunky knit, leather jacket or boyfriend
coat (or all three) thrown over the top makes it that much more loveable. A statement collar
necklace and clean clutch also take it neatly into night too so it's a double-win. Or we might be
up to a triple-win by now, I've lost count. In any case, it's one pretty sweet piece of material.

Sickeningly simply outfit post today (Friday, yay!), mainly because it is so ridiculously hot
in Brisbane at the moment, and also so I can show you my lovely new Alexander Wang
"Rafael" bag in all its understated glory. Bought on sale from CULTSTATUS and from what I
can gather may well have been the last one available. I mean the last one. Anywhere, ever. Not
that I relish this actually because I always enjoy directing you guys to pieces I have purchased
and loved. In any case, I am absolutely smitten with its pebbled heather grey leather, oversized
silver zips and perfectly boxy structure. It is absolutely delightfully beautiful without being too
pretty: just how I like my accessories to be. Especially loving that I can wear a painfully
simple outfit and pop it over the top to freshen the whole look up instantly. Also eyeing its
black and very sporty counterpart here, meanwhile. Not that I am going totally Alexander
Wang-crazy at the moment or anything. Shall mull that one over I think.

Street Pyjamas.

Thanks to Celine Resort 2012, the idea of wearing pieces that resemble traditional bed attire
outside the house is suddenly socially acceptable, if not mandatory for the fashion aware. Having
recently received this bang on-trend shirt from up-and-coming Australian label August Street,
I figured it was the perfect time to give this trend a go. Thought I would ease myself into the
whole thing by toughening up the look with some leather, but I am thinking a pair of silky, lace-
trimmed shorts might make it into the ensemble in the future. Anchored with some ankle boots
and a tough bag, it could make for one seriously good trans-seasonal look. We shall see.

Thoroughly enjoying my new Bec & Bridge Bianca Adventurer Fedora. Finally decided I needed
one fantastic, all-rounder of a hat that would take me anywhere and through any season. This one is all
that and more for me. I've always been a big fan of khaki as an accessory colour - one of those non-basic
neutral colours that adds a little interest to an outfit. Plus it goes with my hair. Very important feature
that last one. Now just have to avoid my dad adopting it as his new golf hat, which he did express an
interest in doing upon seeing it. Not sure whether to take that as a compliment or not.

Behold: the Maurie and Eve Bowie Pant. So incredibly excited to be in physical possession
of these after having stared in absolute awe at them on my computer screen for so long. I wore
these practically all weekend, and I don't plan on giving them a rest anytime soon so expect to
see them quite a bit on the blog in the future. Especially looking forward to introducing them to
some great soft knits (like this, for example) in the cooler months ahead, as the print is so perfectly
trans-seasonal I doubt I will have an excuse to take them off, well, ever. I think it's safe to say
they are one bona fide investment piece for a pant-lover such as myself. Ah, so good.

Goodnight Macaroon Sequin Dress | Tony Bianco "Alexa" Boots

Loving my new Alexa boots from Tony Bianco. Reminiscent of the Acne Pistols, but changed up
with a great textured, matte finish to the leather which I love. Took them for a spin with this dress
c/o Goodnight Macaroon - matte leather and matte sequins exist to be worn together I feel. These
are going to get one hell of a work out in the coming cooler months, let me tell you.

Meet my latest obsession: the printed pant. Having purchased three pairs over less than a month,
I think it's safe to say I am hooked. I suppose it makes sense for my infatuation with printed silk
shorts throughout summer to graduate to a serious love affair with their longer counterparts as
we head towards the cooler months. Scored this pair by Willow at a ridiculously good price, and
they have barely left my legs since. Also experimented with these sunglasses courtesy of the lovely
team over at AM Eyewear. I wouldn't normally gravitate towards oversized, thick square frames
like these, but they are actually a nice change from the more girly styles I usually wear. Their
futuristic feel paired with my otherwise classically feminine outfit just felt right, while the creamy
bone frames freshen up the look perfectly. You can check them out here.

Stylestalker 'Synth' Shirt and 'Shiver' Shorts | Karen Walker sunglasses

Thought I would celebrate this gloriously non-rainy weather currently gracing Queensland with
these sun-drenched pics. The presence of my beloved Stylestalker Synth Shirt and Shiver Shorts
is wholly appropriate, considering another cause for celebration exists - the release of Stylestalker's
newest collection 'Come As You Are'. So much love for these girls, they are doing us Aussies so
incredibly proud! They manage to combine cut-outs, sequins, studs and metallics with pastels, soft
prints and clean lines to form some kind of modern-grunge-rock'n'roll-sophisticated-futuristic-feminine
hybrid of a collection. If that makes sense. They literally drilled a pair of Cons onto a pair of stripper
heels for the shoot, people. D-r-i-l-l-e-d. That's pretty badass. Be sure to check out the lookbook

Friend of Mine dress | Tony Bianco shoes (gifted)

These Tony Bianco "Aviate" boots could very well be the ultimate statement shoe. The slightly
pointed toe, solid platform, hook heel and bold snake print give these some serious attitude,
while the black gusset insert imbues them with a sense of casual abandon, as though they were
meant to be haphazardly pulled on and stomped through puddles or muddy fields. It's that perfect
mix of toughness and femininity that makes these so incredible. Paired with your favourite
block colour on top, they give even the most basic of outfits a serious dose of edgy sophistication.
I think anything that makes getting dressed this easily deserves our attention.

American Apparel Loose Crop Tee | Guess leather shorts | Sportsgirl "Arrow" sunglasses

Thought I should introduce you to this American Apparel cropped tee I have been
wearing to death, just, everywhere. True to my current form I tend to mostly wear it backwards
to give me my preferred higher neckline and open back detail, but it has no tag on either side so
I do believe there is an intention for this reversal to occur. That's what I tell myself at least. Also
wanted to give you a better look at the zip details on these leather shorts (I am just as obsessed
with them as I come across, yes). Not often can a piece marry sophisticated detailing with
inherent edginess. I just adore these things. But you already knew this.

Essential weekend garb for me lately: loose shirt, leather shorts, and slightly edgy sandals.
Topped off by my newest purchase, the Karen Walker Number One's. Well-worn blogger
accessory though they may be, they are just about the perfect pair of sunglasses so I have no
qualms in jumping on the bandwagon. They are just that fantastic. I must get a better shot of
their essential details soon. Speaking of details, I tried to capture the subtle stitching on these
leather shorts for you in the second image. It gives them an almost tailored feel, which
makes them the perfect partner for floaty blouses or slouchy tees. So good.

Cortez.

Quick little post of me playing around in the gorgeous Cortez One Shoulder Kaftan I received
from the lovely team over at Suboo. One-shoulder cuts are made so much better when the one sleeve
you still have billows dramatically in any given breeze. This also doubles as a form of air-conditioning
which is always a plus. Added a feather hairpiece from Sportsgirl too just for fun. The beads and white
feathers played off the beautiful turquoise tribal print so well it just had to be done.

This is beach-to-bar attire at its very best.

Plain And Simple.

Too Many tee | vintage shorts | 2 baia vista shoes | American Apparel clutch | Le Specs sunnies

A few shots of one very simple outfit I threw on the other day. I have literally had this tee for over
five years now and only just wore it for the first time here. Why the neglect, I do not know, as it
has the most perfect drape in the neckline and slightly pointed sleeves that have a fluttering effect
to them. Simple, but not too simple. Also whipped out the black suede American Apparel clutch I
picked up in Melbourne back in December. Looks a little like a pencil case, granted, but definitely
carries its own as a kind of everyday clutch. Great for when you simply cannot be bothered to haul
around a proper bag, but still want to look a little put together. An outfit derived entirely from
an old white tee and frayed denim, I would say, needs such a companion.

Staple The Label dress from Beginning Boutique | Sportsgirl necklace

Kicking off the outfit posts for 2012 with this unreal Staple The Label dress that I wore on
NYE. I loved the tail hem when I first saw this dress, but for some reason failed to love it when
I actually wore it. Any buyer's remorse instantly disappeared though upon flipping the whole thing
around. The higher neckline and longer front hem gave it a satisfyingly more purposeful look for
my long frame, and luckily enough the draped detail on the (intended) front of the dress looked
quite at home swirling its way around my back.The moral of the story? Fishtail hem dresses can
have new life breathed into them through the simple act of wearing them backwards.
I say give it a go.

The Shivers.

So happy to add these Stylestalker Shiver Shorts to my ever-growing collection of printed,
silky high-waisted shorts. Of which you can never have too many, mind you. The cool shade
of cream and blue vein-like print sustains the interest and edge I always look for in otherwise
inherently feminine pieces such as these. I was planning to build a solid outfit around these
shorts eventually, but could not resist shooting them earlier with this American Apparel
cropped tee to let them shine as part of an ultra-simple silhouette. I think they did their job.

Fail-Safe.

My fail-safe, go-to silhouette when nothing else seems to do: loose silk shorts, leather flats, and
a good boxy, structured top. I particularly enjoy wearing this vintage black silk tee and seeing it
really bring out the blonde in the ends of my hair. Actually just noticed that this colour combo then
matches with my shorts. Clearly even my hair cannot escape the wrath of my outfit coordination.
Have also just noticed the myriad of Christmas-appropriate colours in this post. I totally planned
that. I am likely to be on my way to Griffith (in New South Wales) as you read this for my annual
trip to visit family over Christmas. It is then back to Melbourne until New Years (to shop the sales,
of course). Hope you are all enjoying your own current or soon-to-be Christmas holidays!

A few little snippets of what is currently lying around my place:

1. New 2 baia vista sandals from Zomp. Basically an almost exact replica of the
Alexander Wang Saskia Gladiators, but a hell of a lot cheaper and with a more matte finish to the
leather which I think I like better. Have been on the hunt for sandals with serious attitude to make
anything achingly girly in my wardrobe more wearable. These definitely do that.

2. ASOS Croc Embossed Leather Portfolio Clutches in Mallard and Black. These can fit my
MacBook in them. Oh yes. I think the Black is now sold out, but you can check the Mallard out here.

Suburban Bohemia.

Knit tank, printed palazzo pants, aztec cuff, white crystal ring and a fading afternoon sun.
Certainly a lot going on here considering Steven and I were simply manning the verandah steps
so our cat could wander around outside without running away. I swear I do more interesting
things on other weekends, really I do. It goes without saying though that cotton palazzo pants
make for excellent lounging (or verandah-manning) attire. A step away from being in your
pyjamas, perhaps, but sans the shame. This crystal ring, meanwhile, has not left my finger since I
received it from the lovely Fiona of Wolf Circus Jewellery.This is precisely the type of jewellery
I like: bold and slightly unkempt, but still with intricate detailing and made with a lot of love.

Black Heat.

Spent a good part of last weekend trying not to die of heatstroke, and rummaging through my
wardrobe for pieces that hadn't seen the light of day for a while. This was the result. The intense
heat called for the minimal coverage provided by this old sass & bide tank dress, while my
forever 90s-grunge-obsessed-tomboy-self required the comforting anchorage best delivered by
trusty black ankle boots. It is a truly satisfying moment when you manage to pull an outfit
together based entirely on well-worn favourites. Meanwhile, in other news, I have now officially
finished university forever. I am no longer a law student but a BA/LLB graduate with a heart
and mind now freely dedicated to fashion. And so real life begins.

Just a mish-mash of things I have on my mind now that summer is officially upon us in Australia.
Vintage blue denim, burgundy accessories, giant clutches, all-black ensembles, the Isabel Marant
sneakers that have existed for eternity already but I never seem to stop wanting, breton shirts, sand (in
colour and reality), chunky antique gold jewellery, heavy and wholly summer-inappropriate footwear,
tank dresses, mixing white with cream and other neutrals, and essentially every piece currently gracing
the Friend of Mine website. Ah, bliss.

Split Level.

This outfit post managed to get lost in the onslaught of posts from the Isola event. Wore this
Shakuhachi midi skirt with my MINKPINK top and Aldo platforms to a barbecue a week
or so ago. It has two thigh-high splits up the front, making it that much more wearable in my
eyes, particularly when a friendly breeze whips up. Also liking that the print is modernised
by the use of little squares as opposed to your traditional polka-dots, and the creamy colour
just ached to be worn with any type of chunky wooden sandal. Looking forward to playing
with midi-lengths all through this summer - the more splits the better too.

Cut It Out.

Here's a full shot of what I wore to the Isola showcase. I was having one of those days when the last
thing I felt like being was in any way polished or put together, so I simply threw on this giant shirt
from Sportsgirl I've had forever over my Shona Joy shorts and was done with it. I thoroughly enjoy
the cut-out sleeves, always good for adding a little interest and shoulder action. Also a little snippet of
what Steven (boyfriend/photographer/all-round very patient individual) wore as well. Albeit with a
few strands of my hair intruding on the shot (sorry). He absolutely loves his Mr Simple chinos, as

and shorts in a myriad of colours. Also, finally, a shot there of the mojitos we enjoyed post-showcase at
the hotel bar. His was original, mine was raspberry and pineapple flavoured. He wishes he'd had

Isola By Megan Gale Showcase

Last Friday I had the great pleasure of attending the exclusive showcase of the new 2011 collection from Megan Gale's very own swimwear label, Isola by Megan Gale, held at the Sunburn at Broadbeach, on the Gold Coast. The collection itself was a stunning array of vintage prints, bright hues, high-fashion silhouettes and structured designs, lending the pieces perfectly to the runway. The eclectic mix of tropical, leopard, snakeskin and digital floral prints was balanced by structured silhouettes and sophisticated designs, forming a cohesive and entirely wearable range of summer separates.  

As the official Isola blogger for the evening, I had the opportunity to speak with the lovely Megan herself about the inspiration behind the line, and she was all too happy to share some wisdom from her experiences in the fashion industry as well. So for those of you wanting some first-hand advice on surviving the industry from one incredibly influential woman in Australian fashion, read on...

What is the philosophy behind the Isola by Megan Gale range?

The way I want women to view it is that they can get a swimsuit with Isola that is a fantastic fit, and the reason why it is such a fantastic fit is the fact that we do the range with separates. You therefore have the ability to design or create your own swimsuit. You’re not restricted in terms of size or getting something that is ill-fitting, you can actually get the size that suits your proportions. Another benefit of separates is being able to create your own swimsuit in design and colour as well. There’s such a great trend in colour-blocking this summer that you can mix and match two colours, or plain with prints and really have fun with different styles.

Another thing I wanted to accomplish with this range was designing fantastic high-quality, beautiful garments for bigger-busted women. A lot of [my stockists] said they were lacking great summer beach styles that aren’t just supportive but also have hanger appeal, because for some reason the double-D styles that were out there were very heavy and cumbersome and almost like sports-bras and it was as if that double-D market had been forgotten about or neglected to a degree. So I thought one possible area that I could really concentrate on [was] making sure there were some really beautiful, stylish and sophisticated styles that are also supportive. And it’s not just women in their 30s, 40s and 50s; it’s teenage girls, and they want to be going down to the beach and wearing something that’s similar to what their girlfriends are wearing, like a leopard print or a snakeskin that has beautiful thin straps, and is not going to look like something that maybe their mum would wear. So I thought that was really something I should focus on.

How do you go about the whole creative design process for each line? Where do you draw inspiration from?

You do try to think of what trends are going to be moving through. Obviously Europe and the US are a whole season ahead so they kind of really set the pace for everyone, and you can see what’s going to be popular in terms of prints, colours and silhouettes. You can’t do everything, so you’ve got to try and decide what’s appropriate for Isola as a brand and what suits your particular customer as well. I mean, there were some trends where I thought ‘that’s just not Isola at all and I don’t even want to go down that path’ but then you think something might fit really well, like tropical prints and fruits and foliage, and these gorgeous citrus-y tones, then animal and leopard and snakeskin, and I think ‘that’s Isola, that’s something I really want to focus on’. That’s why the colours for the California Vintage story were comprised of three prints, because that is what I felt was the strongest trend for Isola.

Then, in addition to that, you look at silhouettes like the balconette bra, the high-waisted pant – the trends you know everybody is going to do, so if you don’t pick up on it you don’t look like you’ve got your finger on the pulse. Then again, [these silhouettes] are a little bit more niche, which is why I don’t put those in every single story because they’re not really a commercial style, but you still have to have them in there for those girls who are really trend-driven and want whatever the latest thing is.

What style tips are you most looking forward to utilizing this summer?

I think one of the most important things you can have as a woman is confidence. There’s no point in trying something if you don’t have the confidence. I think there are a lot of women who might like something but they’re doubtful they can pull it off, and once you have that doubt there it is never going to work because you won’t emit that kind of confidence or energy that’s going to carry you through with that style. Another thing is to really make sure you buy something that fits really, really well and that’s flattering. I think women sometimes get fixated on what size number is on the tag – don’t pay any attention to what’s on the tag, just make sure that it fits. I myself have sizes 8, 10 and 12 in my wardrobe because all designers have different sizing. It’s really important for women not to get fixated on what the size is: just make sure it fits and make sure you love it, have confidence, and everything will be great.

You have managed to carve out an extremely successful career in an industry where it is routinely difficult to find success. What has been the toughest lesson you have learnt in the course of your career?

I think the first thing, especially early on, was not to take rejection too seriously. That’s why they say you have to have very thick skin to be a model because you do get rejected a lot. Every time you go to a casting and you don’t get a job, that can send a message to you that something physically about you isn’t right - whether it’s your eye colour or your hair colour or your height, whatever it might be - and it could potentially wear you down and make you really self-conscious. I learnt really early on not to take those knockbacks too personally, even though it was deflating, and you know I got knocked back a lot in my first five years so you really just have to believe in yourself.

One of the biggest things I learnt too was to be absolutely professional at all times. I think with models, and anyone in that kind of industry, what is really important to remember is that you’re not any more or less important than anyone else on the job - everyone has their job on set and nothing gets done without every single member of the crew. So that’s something I would say to any young model: don’t believe that you are any more or less important than anyone else on a job, and always treat everyone with respect.

So what advice would you give young girls and guys looking to break into, and ultimately survive, the world of fashion? What would you tell a younger version of yourself now you know what you know?

Just don’t give up. If you’re really enthusiastic about it and you’re really serious about it as a career, don’t give up and don’t get caught up…with silly things. There’s so much more to this business – and it is a business. You really have to start to think of yourself as a brand and be really smart about the choices in your jobs, be smart when you’re dealing with your agent, be smart when your dealing with your clients, and really think of yourself as a business and how you are going to market yourself. You’re almost a product, and you really have to think like that. If I could have known that when I was 18 it would have been so beneficial. You have to think about [your career] in the long-term, and if you want it to have longevity you have to think about it as a business, not just something that’s fun.

Olive Garden.

[Sportsgirl Shirt (old), Shona Joy Shorts, Crossing Sandals, Sabre Sunglasses]

Seriously all about olive and khaki tones for summer. Mixed with brights or lighter-hued
accessories, they are a great alternative to your standard grey. In this instance, it was white
pearl sunnies, cement nails and cream sandals that were the go. Also, in case you had yet to
notice, these shorts have become a full-blown warm weather staple for me, the ultra-light silk
being made for the heat. I get asked where to buy them every time I wear them, so head
here if you're interested.

On another note, I was asked by the lovely team over at Sportsgirl to participate in their
'BELIEVE' initiative, which is all about encouraging young people like ourselves to follow
and believe in our dreams. This is definitely something I can get behind, especially when
it involves answering a few fun questions about oneself! So, to the questions...

As a child what did you want to be when you grew up?
Pretty sure I was hell-bent on being a world-famous actress from quite a young age. I was
definitely a dramatically-inclined child, no doubts there.

Did you make this dream come true or change your mind?
Have definitely changed my mind since then, though one thing that never changed was
my dream to work in a creative industry. I always knew I would never be working in
your average 9-to-5 office job (but I definitely have great respect for those who do).

What is your fave childhood memory?
Just growing up generally I think. I grew up in somewhat of a country town so had a far
more rough-and-tumble type upbringing. A group of us were always playing some kind of
sport or running around each other's yards or swimming in dams or riding our bikes
everywhere. I was definitely a tomboy as a child too so I enjoyed everything like that
(and still do!).

The biggest dream you have right now?
Definitely to find myself a creative and stimulating job in the fashion industry that ultimately
turns into a career. Just to be able to work hands-on and creatively with fashion everyday
would be a dream: styling, editing, consulting, creating - whether it be at a publication, label,
fashion-house, or all of the above. To be able to work with equally creative and passionate
individuals is also very important to me. In saying that, I can see myself in Sydney in the near
future, as the major fashion-hub of Australia.

Your summer must-have pick from the current Sportsgirl range?
I am loving the Oriental Shift Dress for sure. It's all about the high-neck tank dress for
summer, and this little number would add a serious pop of floral colour to your wardrobe.
Plus it can easily be dressed up for a night out or down for the beach - I'm all about
versatility!

Cat Eyes And Crochet.

Seriously loving my new SABRE sunnies. I have long needed a pair of cat-eyes, and lately have
been drawn to lighter-coloured frames for summer. Decided to kick off with a white pearl shade.
So far they have proven pretty handy in lightening up any darker hued options in my wardrobe to
summer-worthy capacity. Greys, burgundies, camels and khakis all seem to enjoy them. That and
they are just really fun to wear. On the hunt for a beigey-bone coloured pair next. I'm on a roll
here, no stopping me now.

A few of you asked after this skirt from my Borneo post too - it's the Arabella Lace Mini by
Alice in the Eve for those who were curious. Currently sold-out online at General Pants but
they have re-stocked it a few times before. It just cries out to be worn with boxy muscle tees and
anything equally masculine if you can get your hands on it. The more shapeless and gym-worthy
the better.

Budget Dressing.

Quick outfit post before I get back to the study grind. This Subtitled tee is a shining example
of great budget dressing. Any tee that is easily long enough to double as a dress is one of
my favourite things in this world. This particular piece has rather high side splits that I have
pinned together for now (planning on getting them sewed properly soon), but beyond that
makes for a perfectly casual, classic striped tee dress. You can check it out if you are

Not usually one to post collections these days but I simply had to share the latest haul from one
of the coolest Australian labels around, KAHLO. Their slightly unhinged take on basics is unbelievably perfect, mixing leathers with grey marl tees, silky soft shirts, high-neck tanks and
casually draped yet purposefully structured shorts and pants. A micro-mini black leather tank
dress or a matching soft, suede-like navy shirt and shorts set had yet to cross my mind as
wearable, everyday trans-seasonal staples. Pretty sure I seriously need them both now though.
Scratch that: I need it all.

Signing off the week with one of my favourite outfits. This shirt/dress/all-round perfect specimen
of clothing is definitely a real favourite. The loose, billowing cut and draped tail-hem mixed with
the rusty polka-dot print makes it satisfyingly everything-appropriate. Both simple and interesting
at the same time. You need only mix up your accessories according to the occasion and it does
the rest. I love anything that allows that little thought when getting dressed. This one is Don't Ask

Rosy Cuffs And High Collars.

Hello all! Sorry for the lapse in posts over the past few days. Had so much work to do for uni and had
already spent all weekend editing a mountain of photos for another exciting little side project that you
guys will get to see over the next few weeks. So yes, have basically just been busy and totally sick of
staring at myself for hours on end on my laptop. I have over-exposed myself to, well, myself. Go figure.
Hopefully this is not (yet) the case for you guys though so here is an outfit I wore to a lunch date this
week. As you may be able to tell I absolutely adore my new rose-gold cuff from Sportsgirl I picked up
over the weekend, along with my equally new and gloriously high-necked 'Now and Forever' tank by
MINKPINK. Paired them both with some old pants from Forever New, nude leather sandals by Neo, and
Le Specs 'Runaway' sunglasses. Love casual Spring weekend outfits.

In other news, I finally got around to (randomly) drawing the winner of my little book giveaway, and

Denim And Gym Tees.

Wore my new sandals with a pair of vintage (read: immeasurably old) denim cut-offs and a grey marl

tee, as promised. Also wore my new Le Specs sunnies (you can check them out here). I would

actually love to wear these shorts more often but they are about two sizes too big and I have a hard

time keeping them from riding up into dangerous territory. The American Apparel tee, meanwhile,

doubles as my gym gear. Whether this is savvy or merely a sad indication of my lack of clothing

options, I do not know. In any case, it was worn outside a ten-metre radius of a treadmill this week.

What's done is done.

Borneo, Baby.

A bits-and-pieces post of shots from my Borneo trip. We spent three days in Kuala Lumpur before jetting off to Kota Kinabalu, the capital of Sabah to the north of Borneo, for a further seven days. Not too many outfits to speak of I must admit, seeing as I spent ninety-percent of my time in my new favourite bikini courtesy of the lovely team over at Isola by Megan Gale. Seriously, for the girls out there with anything over a B-cup, check this range out pronto - never has a balconette top fitted me so well (you can also follow on Twitter here for brand updates and promotions). Mine is the Confetti bikini and I am loving the black and white versatility to death. Meanwhile, I do wish I could have pulled together more photos for you all, but considering most days were spent lazing around by the pool doing an obscene amount of nothing, it's probably a miracle I have many photos to show you period, so I hope these give you some idea of my experience. The very last shot there was taken on a tiny island where we went snorkelling in the last few days of our trip. Literally one side was packed full of people, with plastic bottles and chip packets littering the entire beach, while the other was almost completely deserted, and just beautiful. This was that side. Probably my favourite photo. Xx

Bone And Buckles.

A little glimpse of my new shoes. The brand is "Crossing". Anyone familiar with it? I sure wasn't. In any
case it makes some seriously good shoes (check out more here). Very into the textured bone leather and
thick ankle cuffs with big buckles. The small wedge is also a bonus. Picturing them with old-school blue
denim and grey marl athletic tees and tanks or all-black outfits. Anything slightly ratty or on the cusp of too
casual essentially.

So I have finally arrived home from Malaysia, albeit about 24 hours later than was originally planned. To cut a long, 48-hour marathon of a story short, airlines should think - hard - before they decide to cancel flights when passengers intend to catch a carefully planned connecting flight home on the other end. I think we only just survived. The thought of gathering together the shots I took over there is thus a little daunting at the moment in my dangerously sleep-deprived state, so I shall for now leave you with a photo taken of me traipsing back to our hotel through the streets of Kuala Lumpur for Style Anywhere, an awesome street style blog focussed on the streets of Asia. Those of you who follow me on Twitter will have already seen this, but I thought I would share it with you all again properly. Although being street style snapped seems a rather glamourous experience, I am convinced the lovely photographer noticed me mainly because I managed to rather ungracefully lose my footing while crossing a road in my Aldo platforms, collapsing onto my boyfriend in a red-faced heap. But hey, the end result was worth the embarrassment. I definitely recommend you check this blog out, there are some fantastic shots of incredibly stylish guys and girls to scroll through. A Little Rusty.

Top / Minty Meets Munt (old), Skirt / Evil Twin, Shoes / Aldo, Sunglasses / Sportsgirl

So it has been ri-diculously windy in good old sub-tropical but-refusing-to-act-like-it Brisbane this week, which I felt called for a little experimental Spring dressing. Result? A sheer maxi skirt and striped tee combo. Sheer maxis I feel are a million times more flattering on me than their opaque counterparts, mainly as they allow for a bit more of an interesting and leggy silhouette. At almost 5'10" I always feel a little imposing with over a metre of solid material hanging below my waist, so this is a nice compromise. The rust factor is also a big plus: not quite tan, not quite orange, it's the perfect all-rounder in terms of colour. Paired with red nails, it's a sure winner.

Suede In The Springtime.

Thank goodness Spring has arrived. Can finally slip on my favourite oversized tank dress in all its draping, low-cut sided glory. Paired it with black suede ankle boots because hey, it's not quite summer just yet. All the while lugging around an old cardigan as a shield against the still slightly chilly winds that sometimes whip up. I have had this STAPLE tank dress for what seems like forever, and it has certainly been a handy piece. Ideally would like to break out a neon bra with it in the near future. Perhaps when it gets a tad warmer. Also, picked up the black version of my favourite pair of sunglasses. I just loved the shape of them too much to resist.

So, one assignment down, one exam next week and then I am officially off to Malaysia on the 16th, woo! Off to Kuala Lumpur for the first few days and then headed to Borneo for a week after that. So excited to do some exploring, plus hopefully pick up some cool little random trinkets along the way. Anyone been over there before and have any recommendations regarding where to explore, eat or shop? Be sure to let me know. Old Navy.

Quick post before I settle into a long weekend of assignment-ing. The fact that I am blatantly inventing verbs now may well mean the assessment-related insanity has already kicked in. The fact that it is almost 6pm on Saturday my time also does not bode well since this damn thing is due Monday. Fantastic. Anyway, this outfit is a prime example of what I wear when I have been up late, risen too early, and gotten dressed with the sole purpose of seeking out caffeine and sugar-laden sustenance. Read: super-simple and probably highly uninteresting. Also sorry for the lack of a smile. As I said, I needed caffeine. A lot of it.

By the way, for those of you who were asking, the camera I use is a Canon EOS 1000D, and the product name for my Aldo platforms is "Ganzer" (I think!). There were a few more questions regarding how I do my vintage shopping and also my hair. The answers to those questions may have to wait until I have a bit more time to post about it, but the short answer for both for now would be: with time, luck, and a healthy level of OCD.

Well, what can I say? I am beyond chuffed at present. A huge shout-out is in order for the ever-so-lovely Sara of Harper and Harley for featuring my little blog as a "New Blog Love." Beyond shocked, beyond amazed, and beyond happy about it. I am sure most, if not all, the Australians out there are well aware of Sara's blog and avid followers like myself, but if you are yet to check it out: do it. She knows what's up. Very happy to have taken on a fair few new followers consequently, so a welcome to you guys! And also a big thank you to all my older followers for still being here, and especially to a few of my follower friends for leaving some super-sweet comments under my feature too. You know who you are (Francesca, Chloe-Kiara, Chloe C., Carolyn and Bianca. Check out their blogs people, they are all fellow Aussies and all brilliant).

On that note, so glad I had this post ready to go for you all to enjoy. This is one of my favourite blazers of all time - love its boxy boyfriend shape and sweet mauve colour - and these shoes are fast becoming a staple for the warmer weather. So comfortable and easy to walk in, I highly recommend. My outfit and make up meant the post title just had to go the way it did. Definitely describes my feelings at the moment. Heading into a bit of assessment in the next two weeks so my mood might not remain so buoyant but no matter, you guys always cheer me up.

The polish colour is more a bright tangerine-like hue in real life, rather than the red it appears to be in these photos. I figured my otherwise basic outfit deserved a little pop of colour. Talulah Spring 2011 "Lost Beauty"

Needed to post some pieces from Talulah's Spring 2011 collection. I'm currently readying myself for a trip to Malaysia in September, which of course requires a vast amount of sartorial purchases. The loose and draped but still perfectly voluminous layers of these dresses just scream to be worn on the beach, or traipsing through bustling markets or cool and tranquil rainforests. I just need them, period. Definitely predicting the 'Fly Away With Me' fringed slip dresses to be best-sellers. Both are just too good.

A little scramble of photos from my birthday beach trip away with my boyfriend. The perfectly crisp and sunny weather had me living in this polka-dot shirt and lace-trim shorts, an entirely obscene outfit considering we are just emerging from the dead of winter here in Australia. The famous Queensland sun proves a powerful foe for any winter chill it seems. It was truly the best holiday I have had in a long time, and my birthday itself was such a special day. Cannot wait to show you what my incredibly loveable other half gave me for the occasion. Still cannot believe I am its excessively proud owner. Pictures to come later in the week. Oh! Phew, okay so I've been desperately trying to post these since the weekend but my internet has decided to go the way of my laptop and try to give up on life. Working through a slow and unresponsive computer is one thing, but a dodgy internet signal makes for pure blogging hell as you might well imagine. But no matter, here they are! This outfit is what results when one challenges oneself to throw on items that are neither new or in high rotation in one's wardrobe. Result? A baggy knit paired with vintage floral pleats. Oh okay so the grey suede ankle boots are kind of new - managed to pick the brothers of my black pair up for no more than $64.00 on sale, down from $190. It is at prices like this I go into automatic pay-and-let's-go-before-someone-realises-they've-marked-them-wrong mode. A highly satisfactory purchase to say the least.

Heading to the coast next week to celebrate my birthday with the boyfriend (yay!) so that's definitely something to look forward to. It may mean I'll be a tad quiet for a few days without internet access, but I'll try to schedule a few posts I have in mind to keep on track. Promise to take some photos up there too so I'll definitely be posting those when I get back. Taking a beach holiday in the middle of winter, oh how I love living in Australia.

Sunday Snippet.

Hoping to spend more of my Sundays at the local markets wearing situationally-inappropriate outfits and eating warm vanilla Belgian waffles with fresh strawberries and cream. The waffle tasted even better than it looks. And it looks mighty fine. Also discovered some crazy-good homemade lemonade, which tasted much like ice-cold melted lemon sorbet. Oh yes. And finally, a glimpse there of my most recent eBay purchase, an amazingly snug shearling jacket from Zara. More photos of it to come in the future no doubt.

There is nothing better than rediscovering old items in your wardrobe that have until now been greatly under-appreciated. This cropped knit is one such item for me. I've had it for years and yet the sweet mauve colour, cropped cut, nubbly textured accents and relaxed drop-shoulders had as yet escaped my love and attention. Until now, that is. It now holds the prime throw-on-over-anything position in my clothing pile. Don't you just love when that happens?

Just a quick post of what I've been wearing lately. This being yet more oversized jumpers as dresses with somewhat heavy-set ankle boots. I enjoy the tinge of '90s grunge my new Tony Biancos give with their higher ankle and block heel. They make for a very solid anchor to any outfit, with a little childhood nostalgia thrown in as well. Double win.

Two exams down, last one on Tuesday, and then I'm freeee. My final exam is going to be by far the hardest though. Medical Law is a friend to no one. I may thus have to revert back to my hermit-like study habits for the next few days, but I'll of course be taking more outfit shots for you all in that time.
Hope you enjoy these in the meantime. I'm very into anything of asymmetric character at the moment. Accordingly, this tee dress is my new favourite thing.

Pretty much going to live in jumper dresses this winter I do believe. Nothing like a crisp breeze to the legs when you're feeling all cosy up top. Okay so I might have to add tights to the whole ensemble when it truly gets cold, but that'll still make for a damn good outfit.

Good gracious, this is my 100th post - happy anniversary to my blog! I felt I owed you all an outfit post for the occasion, and also to prove I'm still alive and metaphorically kicking. I've been so incredibly busy with assessment over the past couple of weeks, so it's a near miracle I (a) left the house and (b) wore something other than sweatpants and a jumper at some point.

I wore this outfit to a 50th last weekend. This shirt dress is a recent eBay vintage purchase and I love it to death. The reptilian print and bright fuchsia colour could make it almost pass as an Acne piece I feel... I wish. But I love it still. Also let my new Tony Biancos loose on the world. These are so comfortable and versatile, I'm thinking I need to purchase them in the grey colour they come in as well.

Apologies for the delay in posting this, couldn't get onto Blogger for a bit there, plus my internet is far from healthy at the moment. Also apologies for the lapse in posting over this week. I have three assignments due so trying to get my act together and get those finished. Shall have to get around to responding to some of you soon too - I always read and appreciate every comment so I never forget to answer questions/check out blogs/etc.. I'll get back to you very soon I promise.
